Description | Birth, death and marriage certificates; letters; biographical notes; press cuttings
When Andrew Melville III retired one of the things he planned to do was to write a book about the Melvilles tentatively titled "The Melvilles of Melodrama". To this end he made copious notes and collected much family memorabilia and eventually produced a draft of the novel. It was rejected by Harraps and never subsequently published. The material in this section has been divided into the more important family members. These include George, Andrew I and II and III, Frederick and Walter. It includes personal items such as birth and death certificates as well as press cuttings and letters. More obscure members are listed under their nearest more famous relative. There is also a section for working papers associated with the book.
The material has been housed in acid free envelopes and folders and then divided into 2 boxes, 1 for Andrew Melville I and notes for the book and the other with material relating to Andrew Melville II and III, George, Frederick and Walter. |
