DescriptionSeries of cuttings including play reviews especiaaly for DRIVEN FROM HOME and MONTE CRISTO. Many of the reviews especially DRIVEN FROM HOME and IN A WOMAN'S GRIP are for Andrew Melville II. There is also a page from The Cambria Daily Leader 8 Aug 1907 with photographs of George Melville, Andrew I, Andrew II, Kate Melville and Rosamund Melville entitled Four Generations of the Melvilles.Also a newspaper reproduction pen and ink sketch of Andrew Emm and his leading lady. Collection also includes pieces on theatres around the country including the re-opening of the Lyceum in Newport, a power cut in Middlesborough that affected the theatre. Also a page in the book with cuttings concerning licensing, alcohol restrictions and a move to refuse entry to any unaccompanied children under 14.Also a case at the Grand theatre, Birmingham involving the theft of pass out checks by members of staff and a story involving rival theatre managers and flyposting. There is also a piece discussing the merits of National Theatres as opposed to smaller companies.Other theatre stories include the death of Mr. Lester Collingwood, proprietor of the Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham and a 1906 review of THE STILL ALARM with Andrew Melville II and Rose Ralph.
