Description | Red Fibreglass sculpture created as part of Sumita Chauhan’s PhD research. The sculpture is an abstract representation revealing the unusual body position of the ‘scorpion pose’ in Yoga. It captures the beauty and flexibility of this advanced pose, known as Vrischikasana, which mimics the position of a scorpion ready to strike. The sculpture was part of a number of artworks created as a result of Sumita’s interactions with people with dementia during her research. It was originally exhibited in a solo exhibition, Intimate Conversations, at Studio 3 Gallery, Jarman Building, University of Kent in 2017. |
