DescriptionThe majority of these tapes are video recordings of television programmes on the theme of politics and the workings of the House of Commons. Many include interviews with Weatherill and give him the opportunity of voicing his personal views on the current and past operation of parliament. As usual he gives restricted political views in line with the policy of the impartial status of the Speaker. Most of the recordings are at the time of the introduction of televising proceedings or on Weatherill's retirement as Speaker. The other videos include some educational videos on parliamentary government, Weatherill on his tours abroad and various items about Croydon and fall into the following categories: V 1-19 Television Broadcasts 1984-1992, V 20-23 Croydon 1986-1993, V 24-27 Travel overseas 1986-1989, V 24-27 Travel overseas 1986-1989, V 28-30 Educational 1987-1991, V 31-32, Other 1986-1988.
