Description
This video contains a regional political programme 'Central Lobby', made by Central Independant Television and broadcast in the Midlands. The presenter is Judy Laybourn and the items covered are the rise of right wing political parties in Britain, the lack of safety checks on drivers once they have passed their driving tests, an interview with Weatherill following hints of his retirement as Speaker, and a forthcoming private members bill on footpaths. The interview with Weatherill is about his trials and tribulations as the first Speaker to have his actions viewed on television. In his interview he comments on the additional pressures on the Speaker from MP's who want to be seen to be heard. Excerpts of him dealing with rowdy scenes and criticism of is conduct of debates is included.
