DescriptionThe film is a recording of 'Visions' a programme covering religious news and themes, broadcast on Thames Television. The issues covered include the church's reaction to propsed changes to laws on homosexuality in the Isle of Man; faith in the life of Mr Speaker; appeals for combatting famine; Anglican worship in Calais; the Muslim community in Cape Town. The section concerned with Weatherill and his christian faith includes a short interview and shots of his activities in the House, of India and of war. He reflects on the foundation for his faith laid by his upbringing, its reinforcement during the war in India, the expansion of his understanding by studying and experiencing other faiths and role of religion in his post of Speaker, which is essentially a lonely one.
