TitleVideo of the Mayday Scanner Appeal for Croydon General Hospital
Extent1 videocassette (VHS, 60 min.)
DescriptionThe film is presented by Julia Bartle, who introduces the topic by giving statistics on the use of Croydon hospital and the proportion of patients needing x-rays. The progress of the fund-raising appeal is traced through a series of interviews, from the launch of the appeal in 1982 with a series of local events, the successful efforts of a commercial fundraiser, and the sponsorship of the appeal by the Croydon Advertiser to 1986 when the target of £300,000 was reached. The interviews include one with Dr John Manners, a consultant radiologist and chairman of the Appeal Committee, who explains the operation of the scanner and Weatherill, President of the Appeal, who thanks the people of Croydon for their donations, the committee for their work and the Croydon Advertiser for their sponsorship.
