Date | 19 March 1991 |
Extent | 1 videocassette (VHS, 30 min.) |
Description | This video contains a recording of the programme 'Central Lobby', made by Central Independant Television and presented by Jon Lander. The programme covers a feature on Prime Minister's Question Time in parliament, a feature on teachers unions striking to regain negotiating rights on pay, and a feature on a small private school that is to be closed by the Education Department. The feature on the Prime Minister's Question Time includes interviews with various MPs, such as Clare Short, David Nellist, Betty Bothroyd and David Steel. They voice various opinions on the noise levels, conduct of their colleagues during question time and about the potential damage to meaningful debate. Radio extracts of proceedings are played and it is felt the presence of television in the House will expose the troublemakers. |
