<dc:title>Material relating to Josephine Louise Thorndyke, in particular her marriage to Dion Boucicault and her death</dc:title>
<dc:description>Material relating to Josephine Louise Thorndyke, in particular her marriage to Dion Boucicault and her death. Item 1 -- certified copy of the marriage certificate of Dion Boucicault and Josephine Louise Thorndyke, who were married on 9th September, 1885, in Sydney, in the presence of A(rthur) S(mith) Bourcicault, L. M. Boucicault, and M. W. Boucicault, members of Arthur Bourcicault's family;. Item 2 -- photocopies of 2 letters, dated July 1894, from "J. Thorndyke Boucicault" to William Seymour (the originals are part of the William Seymour Correspondence in the Princeton University Library Theatre Collection);. Item 3 -- photostat of the certificate of death of Josephine Cheney, i.e. Josephine Louise Thorndyke Boucicault, who had remarried a Mr. Cheney; she died in Manhattan on 10th December 1956;. Item 4 -- a letter, dated March 21, 1962, from Samuel French Inc., Publishers, to Christopher Calthrop, passing on a request for information from a descendent of Dion Boucicault for information about Josephine Cheney; here it is claimed that Renee Boucicault (Rene Boucicault, an actress), was the daughter of Dion and Josephine (Louise) Boucicault, but other information suggests that she was in fact the daughter of Aubrey Boucicault and thus Dion Boucicault's granddaughter and therefore no blood relation to Josephine Louise; the letter also mentions that Josephine Cheney had had dealings with Samuel French, Inc., "in connection with the Dion Boucicault plays".</dc:description>
