  <dc:description>Dotwas Boucicault's adaptation of Charles Dickens' 'The Cricket on the Hearth'. It opened at the Winter Garden Theatre, New York, in 1859 with Agnes Boucicault in the title role. In 1862, the first British performance of the play took place at the Adelphi Theatre, London, under the management of Benjamin Webster, and starred Louise Keeley.

The material for this play consists of two posters for the 1862 production at the Adelphi, two programmes for an 1883 production at Toole's Theatre, Charing Cross and the Lord Chamberlain's licence allowing the performance of Dotat the Adelphi Theatre in 1862.</dc:description>
