  <dc:description>The diary contains detailed full daily entries for Hewlett and Nowell Johnson's trip to Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria in August and September 1951. Mention is made of visits to workers rest homes, a childrens' holiday home at Lake Balaton, tractor stations, state farms etc. Meetings with representatives of Peace Committees in Budapest, Bucharest, Constanta and Sofia are also commented on. An entry for August 13th written by Hewlett Johnson records his meeting with Bishops Laszlo Diezsery and Beresztocz and Patriarchs Justinian and Alexanda at an important meeting on August 22nd of the Presidium which also included foreign legations, guests, party workers, clergy etc. Roumania's National Day celebrations on August 23rd also receive mention.</dc:description>
