The performer is depicted on the cover, in a lithograph with three illustrations above; two small illustrations depicting boys with captions, ‘A soldier I will be’ and ‘I will be a sailor’, and a larger illustration of a nurse with a small boy on her lap with the caption, ‘I’ll stay and work for mother’. Also depicted are lyrics to the chorus: ‘Weaving his golden fancies, Filling her heart with glee, Telling her the same old stories, Of what he means to be; Never a thought of the sorrow, The future may bring to some; But he’ll be his mother’s darling, In the years that are to come’. |
