Item 1 -- 2 letters from Basil Francis, author of Fanny Kelly of Drury Lane (1950), touching on Boucicault's connection with Fanny Kelly's Dramatic School, Boucicault's attitude to the spelling of his pseudonym Lee Moreton, his first appearance in a production at Kelly's theatre; Francis also mentions an article on Lee Moreton by Prof. Alan Downer in the journal Theatre Notebook;. Item 2 -- an excerpt from The Times, 26 May 1840, reviewing a performance of SUMMER AND WINTER, produced at Miss Kelly's Theatre and featuring Dion Boucicault under the pseudonym Lee Moreton. Item 3 -- 2 letters from a correspondent at the Curtain Theatre expressing an interest in the connection between Lee Moreton and Fanny Kelly's school and saying he was "dubious about the horse at Miss Kelly's", presumably as a response to a sugestion from Christopher Calthrop. |
