Ryan, titled "John Brougham ; The Gentle Satirist; a Critique, with a Handlist and Census", from Bulletin of the New York Public library, vol. 63 (December 1959);. Item 2 -- Madame Vestris's obituary in The Era, 17 August 1856, copied out by hand;. Item 3 -- transcript of a letter from Charles Mathews to [Edward] Saker, listing roles in a play, describing scenery, and suggesting suitable actors to play the parts (the parts include Dick Evergreen, Humphrey Lovekin and Prince Kotchacoff; the title of the play is not mentioned); the letter is dated Feb. 25 1876. Item 4 -- photocopy of a letter from [John] Brougham to Capt.[?] Lunn, dated Sept[?] 5[?] 1840. (Original in the Victoria and Albert Museum, Enthoven Theatre Collection). |
