| Description | This file consits entirely of press cuttings about Hewlett Johnson, dating to a period ranging from 1942 to 1948, but the majority are from 1942 and relate to the period from the failure of operation Barbarossa to the German defeat at Battle of Stalingrad and the turning of the war in Stalin's favour. There are numerous press accounts of Hewlett's speeches all round Britain in favour of Russia's politcal system, and to promote aid to the Soviet Union. There are also accounts of the bombardment of Canterbury in 1942, including one from "Argentina Libre", (7570), and recommendations for postwar reconstruction and planning |
