| Description | Covering the period between December 26th 1963 and January 9th 1964, the diary gives detailed, daily entries of a visit to Cuba, via Prague and Ganda, by Hewlett and Nowell Johnson. Illustrated with a few coloured sketches, the notes describe sightseeing in Havana, visits to factories, workers estates, state farms etc. and makes particular mention of a meeting with Castro at a reception at the Presidential Palace on the occasion of the 5th Anniversary of Cuba's Independence Day, January 2nd, 1964. At the back of the diary there are odd notes on Cuban production figures, some short entries for December 31st to January 9th and names and addresses of contacts. |
