DescriptionThis souvenir silk programme, printed with the words of Rudyard Kipling’s poem and an image of R. Caton Woodville;s draing 'A gentleman in kharki', was presented to mark the 100th performance of Sydney Grundy's 'The Degenerates' at the Garrick Theatre on Friday 24th October 1899. Lillie Langtry, who starred in the production, presented the programme to members of the audience at the end of the performance. The Daily Mail printed the programme in return for a donation from Mrs Langtry of £100, made to the wives and children of those fighting in South Africa during the second Boer War.
