The front cover depicts Fred French wearing a brown button-up coat and a wide-brimmed hat. There are four illustrations surrounding the main portrait of Fred French, with details of white, blue, red and beige paper lanterns with 'Chinese' characters on, and coconut trees. The top left image shows a white man sitting in a traditional hut, while a Chinese woman in blue clothing shaves his beard; in the doorway is Chinese man. The top right image shows the white man and Chinese woman sailing in a boat down the river and holding eachother, towards the Chinese man. The bottom right image shows the Chinese man holding a knife facing a white man who is running away; in the doorway is a woman turning away.
