| Description | Sheet music for piano and voice titled, “Never again” appearing as two folio sheets (8 pages total). The performer is depicted on the cover, in lithograph wearing a top-hat and a bow-tie. Two small silhouetted scenes depict a woman wagging a finger at a boy and saying, “Stealing tarts were you?” and the boy answers “Yes” and a man and a woman; the man offering to escort the lady across the road. Two choruses are depicted, ‘1st chorus: Never again, never again; I told the truth for a change, just for once, The consequence didn’t get over for months; Never again – it caused me woe and pain; Mother said with a frown, “Take your knickerbocks down,” So never, no, never again.’ ‘3rd chorus: Never again, never again, Her husband was vicious and knocked me about, “Politeness costs nothing”, some people may shout, Never again, - it caused me woe and pain, For a week I shan’t squat on my never-mind-what so never, no, never again.’ |
