| Description | Sheet music for piano and voice titled “Rip Van Winkle” appearing as two folio sheets (4 pages total). The cover depicts an elderly man with long, flowing, white beard. Dressed in raggedy clothing with a hand held to shield his eyes from the sun as he stares into the distance. A cation reads, “I fancy I see Mrs Van Winkle standing in her broachy silks, and the little Rip van Winkles all grown up to full blown whelks.” Lyrics to a chorus are also presented: “I’m Rip van Winkle, I’ve been sleeping for forty years, And when I get home my wife to see, we’ll have Rip van Winkles and shrimps for tea; Miss Winkle will think she’s left upon the shelf, for forty years is a long time for me to be sleeping by myself. |
