DescriptionThomas Watkins gives £80 to Richard Godfrey in return for Godfrey to discharge to Watkins and his heirs for ever the following tenement (with the Outhouse, Backside, Yard, Garden and Appurtenances belonging to it), which is situated at or near Rainham Mark in Rainham. (The premises in question are actually currently in Watkin’s possession due to a previous sale/rental agreement by Godfrey for 1 year at the cost of 5 shillings) - [See RB/DOC/LT/009].
At the very base of the manuscript is ‘The Mark & Seal of Richard Godfrey’ and a large ‘X’. To the right of this is a simple red wax seal. Despite having been mentioned in the closing text that it was signed by both parties, there is no signature or mark for Thomas Watkins.
NotesDamage: Some thinning along the folded creases, and small damage to centre of parchment.
There are two large blue stamped papers glued in the top left hand margin of the main parchment. Upon the top one is visible the date ‘1807’. The top stamp reads ‘fifteen shillings’, and the stamp below reads ‘SINGLE.X. SHILLs’.
