| Notes | Watermark visible across page. On “left side” the words ‘W KING’ are visible over the words ‘Alton Mill’, and on the “right side” is a coat of arms over the script style lettering of the initials ‘W K’.
On “page 1”, there are several corrections in pencil indicating a change to past tense, and a date and summary in pencil across the top of the document. There is also a correction in the original text itself, where the word ‘undisturbed’ was missed out, and consequently written over the word which would have followed it (‘possession’).
To the top left of the “front page”, the amount 1½d per Sheet.’ is typed. Beneath that is an indented stamp upon the page (roughly 3x3cm) with ‘TWO SHILLINGS SIX PENCE’ written under the image of a crown. Beneath that is stamped in black ink a circular stamp (roughly 2.5cm in diameter), reading ‘KENT’ across the top, ‘10.1.78’ across the bottom, and an image of a crown in the centre. Beneath that is a smaller, faded circular stamp (roughly 1cm in diameter), filled simply with the initials ‘SD’. |
