| Description | By an Indenture of 3rd April 1901, between Frederick End and Thomas Smith [see Notes], the property was granted by End to Smith to cover £4000 (plus interest) debt. Chirgwin agreed to lend End £800. End promises to pay Chirgwin on 25th March 1902 the sum of £800 plus interest, and conveys property in Ash as security. If he pays the debt back by the given date the land will be re-conveyed to him.
At the base of Indenture: Signed, sealed and delivered by Frederick End.
On the back page: Another Indenture (dated 21st January 1904. States the money has been paid back from End to Chirgwin, and his lands have been re-conveyed. Signed, sealed and delivered by ‘E. Chirgwin’, and witnessed by ‘Frank Martin’, her solicitor. |
| Notes | Two extra pages (sized 34x21cm (folded)) attached to document with single pin in top left corner. First additional page, dated 5th March 1903, is typed with blue ink. It is addressed to ‘Thomas Smith’ (of Bycullah House, Enfield), and states that the property was indeed conveyed to Elizabeth Chirgwin. It is signed by Frederick End’s solicitor (of 29 Queen Street, London), and Thomas Smith. Second additional page is dated 22nd January 1904, and is typed with black ink. It is addressed to ‘Edmund Rochford’ (of “The Elms”, Waltham Cross, Hertford), and states that Rose Farm, which is in mortgage to him by Frederick End, has been conveyed by End to Elizabeth Chirgwin by way of mortgage to secure £300 and interest. It is signed by Elizabeth Chirgwin’s solicitor (which is the same as Frederick End’s). |
