Williamson was an American actor who became a theatrical manager in Australia, and with whom Boucicault had occasional dealings.

The Jordans separated and George Jordan, following his wife, saw Boucicault enter her new lodgings late one night. He gained entry to the house and tried to find Boucicault, who had hidden himself in the rooms of another lodger, Colonel Gibbon. Gibbon, who had been out but was now returning home, was asked by the landlady to stop Jordan creating a disturbance; finally, Colonel Gibbon called the police and had Jordan arrested. Jordan sued Colonel Gibbon for false arrest.
